We
now have our own Trout fishery with the added bonus of some
excellent Roach with one Roach of 3lb 2 oz being caught and four
Roach to over 10lb. There is a good head of Brown Trout and also
some Rainbows. All the members I have spoke to who have fished
this water are pleased so I think this fishery will be very
popular

Derwent Angling Association
We
have successfully joined Derwent Angling Association in a ticket
exchange scheme, Established in 1865 they have 15 miles of fly
fishing river with good stocks of Brown Trout and Grayling.
The river is located in the
Derwent Valley which, in part, forms the border between the
counties of Northumberland and Durham. The source of the river
is in the hills above the Derwent Reservoir and from here it
flows through the Derwent valley to join the river Tyne near the
famous 'Metro Centre', a few miles upstream from the now world
renowned quayside area of Newcastle. The main town nearest to
the river is Consett, with a once world-wide reputation for it's
steel making and more recently for it's Phileas Fogg snacks. The
town of Consett is almost equi-distant from the historical and
beautiful city of Durham.
Windermere,
Ambleside & District Angling Association
We
have now arranged a two ticket exchange with WADDA .
The
Windermere, Ambleside & District Angling Association is one of
the largest angling clubs in Cumbria, offering a huge range of
waters and facilities, For the fly angler WADAA offers superb well
stocked trout fisheries such as Ghyll Head, Dubbs and High Newton,
sport fisheries like High Fairbanks Tarn and several hill tarns
ranging in size from an acre to more than 30 acres which give a
more natural style of angling for brown and rainbow trout. The
Association spends in excess of £22,000 a year on rainbow and
brown trout. Some waters are stocked with large tagged rainbow
trout giving a permanent population of sport-only resident fish.
Because of this our waters are challenging and cater for everyone
from the novice angler to seasoned professional.. The Association
is a sporting association and encourages catch and release on all
its fisheries. The Club has several boats on some of the best
natural trout waters in the Lake District which are free for
members to use. In recent years WADAA has extended its
relationship with several other clubs to offer exchange permits on
a wide variety of waters including some excellent salmon, sea
trout, brown trout and grayling rivers.
The Association does all it can to protect fishing throughout the
area and has taken a special interest in trying to improve wild
fish stocks in the Windermere catchment. The Association regularly
finances local habitat improvement schemes and is working with
other interested bodies to prevent any further decline in this
once great river and lake system.
The Association also caters for coarse anglers controlling some of
the best pike fishing in the whole of the UK. Members enjoy the
use of club boats and fish in excess of 30lb have been caught from
WADAA fisheries. Other waters include large tarns and estate lakes
which hold carp in excess of twenty pounds, big tench, bream,
roach, perch, chub, rudd and eels. The Club Match Record set at
Ratherheath Tarn is in excess of seventy pounds.
